What is a Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii ?
- Nintendo DS
- The Nintendo DS (aka. DS / NDS) is a handheld gaming console manufactured by Nintendo. This console has a very small slim design compared to the PSP and have some rather unique features such as two different LCD screens - one of which is a touch-sensitive screen.
The name DS stands for "Dual Screen" and "Developers System".
Hardware-wise the DS is pretty weak compared to it's main compeditor the Sony PSP but since this console has so many unique features it's way more fun game-play wise and has also better developer line-up including alot of japanese software developers.
Nintendo DS is equipped with two ARM processors, an ARM946E-S main CPU and ARM7TDMI co-processor at clock speeds of 67 MHz and 33 MHz respectively, with 4 MB of main memory.
The Nintendo DS has built-in Wi-Fi functionality that allows connections with a standard access point to access the internet and with other DS units directly.
- Nintendo Wii
- The Nintendo Wii is Nintendo's latest gaming console that takes gaming to a totally new level of gaming experience with it's brand new way of playing games. The nintendo Wii's primary feature is a brand new concept of gaming controller, it is a wireless controller that can be used as a handheld pointing device and can detect motion and rotating in three dimensions.
It also featues an extra controller called nunchuck that you connect to the wireless controller so called Wii-mote that has a analoge-stick and three buttons to hold on your right arm while using the Wii-mote on the right.
You could sum up Nintendo Wii with three words: Simple, Fun and Cheap, this is a totally different goal from the other main competitors such as Sony and Microsoft that instead of keeping the console cheap and simple put in extremly fast and expensive hardware and has set it's goal to have games with the latest graphic effects and high HDTV resolutions.
Hardware-wise the Wii is pretty simple and weak comparing it to the other third-generation consoles, the hardware is basicly a greatly tuned up GameCube but with several of new features such as built-in Wi-Fi support, it got a PowerPC based "Broadway" processor, clocked at 729 MHz, as GPU it has a ATI graphic-chipset called "Hollywood" clocked at 243 Mhz and it has 88 MB main memory (24 MB "internal" 1T-SRAM integrated into graphics package, 64 MB "external" GDDR3 SDRAM).
What purpose do this site have?
This site is a service that let's DS and Wii users to share friendcodes with eachother, it give's the users an easy and handy way of doing this instead of using different forums or other bad services that's available today.
friendcodes!?
friendcode is a identification ID every user get when running eg. a Nintendo DS game over Nintendo's WFC (Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection) using it's Wi-Fi capabilities. These unique codes must be registered on each DS to enable the players to directly connect to eachother, same goes for the Wii friendcodes.
What will be the main features of this site comparing it to other projects like this one?
This service will be alot different and more handy than all the ones i've used, all things on this site will be database driven which let's you organize and add/remove friendcodes as a contact list, the user you will add/remove will also get a notice via email (on Wii systems the user will get a email sent directly to it's Wii) if the change/request. The reason for sending notices to the other ones you add is that both "freinds" must have eachother registered on the DS/Wii in able to get connected therfore it's a nice way to be able to add people this way.
This service will be online ASAP. so bookmark it now :-)
